Welcome to Ummah Maternal’s Birth Club!

If you are expecting or a mother with a baby (or babies) aged 3 and under, Birth Club is for you! This is your dedicated space to share experiences, seek guidance, and connect with other like-minded mothers in the community. Whether you are preparing for birth or navigating life with little ones, you will find support, connection, and valuable resources here.

As a Birth Club Member, you will enjoy exclusive access to:

    • Monthly “Mommy & Baby” In-Person and Virtual Circles – A nurturing space to gather, share, and grow, both face-to-face and from the comfort of your home.
    • Four Member-Led Webinars – Topics chosen by you, tailored to what matters most on your journey.
    • A Summer Family Potluck Picnic – A joyful gathering to celebrate our growing community.
    • Private WhatsApp Group – A space to learn, share, and stay connected with fellow mothers.

    Acknowledge the following Birth Club guidelines:

    • I understand Birth Club is not meant to be a substitute for a Health Care Practitioner.
    • I understand regular conversations will take place via WhatsApp.
    • I will be an active participant on the WhatsApp group and contribute when I can.
    • I agree to pay the non-refundable membership fee of $100 + HST.
    • I understand my membership expires on December 31st, 2025 and re-registeration for 2026 is optional.

    Birth Matters Seminars - 2nd Annual

    Join us for an evening of education, connection and empowerment with inspirational women from the community.

    Speakers:

    1. Niema Duri

    Niema Duri is a registered nurse with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing from McMaster University and over 15 years of experience at The Hospital for Sick Children. She is the founder of Postpartum Travel Nurses (PTN) and a passionate advocate for maternal and newborn care. As a proud mother of two, Niema specializes in breastfeeding attaining her International BoardCertified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) and Canadian Perinatal Mental Health Certification. Her extensive experience in pediatric healthcare has equipped her to provide compassionate support to families, particularly during the postpartum period. Niema is dedicated to empowering mothers through exceptional home care services that promote their physical and emotional well-being, ensuring a positive postpartum experience.

    Niema will be talking about “Informed and Empowered: Understanding your rights during pregnancy and beyond.”

    Objective:

    • Understanding your legal rights in health care.
    • Understanding common misconceptions about your rights in health care.
    • How cultural and systemic bias impacts patient’s rights.
    • How your own cultural biases impact your rights.
    • Utilizing strategies and tools for advocacy.
    1. Gerda Hayden

    Gerda is a highly skilled physiotherapist who takes pride in delivering holistic care. She keeps abreast of the latest evidence based research and applies this to clients. Her thorough, insightful and effective assessment enables the development of an integrated and comprehensive client centred treatment strategy. Gerda has been a physiotherapist for 12 years in South Africa, England and Canada.

    Gerda will be speaking about “The role of the pelvic floor- what is it there for? And more!”

    • Understand pelvic floor anatomy and function
    • Understand the reason behind common pelvic floor conditions such as leaking and pain with sex
    • Understand times where the pelvic floor is at higher risk for dysfunction
    • Have a good grasp of treatment approaches and options
    1. Shamira Hudda

    Dr. Shamira is a family chiropractor with over 19 years of clinical experience including in-house chiropractor at Canada Post and Peel Regional Police and working at offices across Ontario before joining Foundation Chiropractic in Oakville in 2020. She is one of a small number of chiropractors in Canada to be certified in prenatal and paediatric care and is thrilled to serve patients of all ages live healthy, vibrant lives.

    Shamira will be talking about “Healthy Mama, Healthy Baby: The role of Chiropractic in during Pregnancy and in the First Year of Life.”

    • Discuss the importance of pelvic alignment for a healthy pregnancy and delivery with less complications and interventions
    • Explore the role of pediatric chiropractic care for infants with respect to birth trauma, feeding challenges, digestive concerns, motor milestones and neurodevelopment from 0-12months.
    1. Hina Mirza

    Hina has over 20 years of experience as a writer, public speaker and mental health educator. She has a masters in Counselling Psychology with a focus on Islamic counselling and is a Registered Psychotherapist in Ontario. She specializes in implementing a positive model for healthy families with emphasis on relationship management and supports individuals and couples who are struggling through emotional, behavioral or relationship challenges. As a therapist, her aim is to create a warm and supportive environment where clients are enabled to seek positive change and growth, by framing treatment planning with cultural sensitivity, religious values and an awareness of individual needs.

    Hina will be talking about “Maternal Mental Health.”

    A happy mom is the foundation of a healthy home. Knowing and understanding your own mental health needs will allow you to create a home environment that is positive for yourself and for your family. Maternal mental health is a necessary skill to master as you navigate motherhood. Learn key skills on how to recognize, understand and overcome mental health challenges in a fast paced world that leaves little time for yourself.

    Gerda Hayden – Licensed Physiotherapist who has served for over 18 years will be talking about pregnancy related pelvic girdle pain: the myth, the preconceived notions about this condition and what pain science is now telling us, as well as treatment approaches and strategies.

    Fatima Kazi – MD (UAE) and Practitioner of Classical Homeopathic Medicine will be talking about Homeopathic Medicine for Health Issues during Pregnancy. She will be talking about the safe and effective use of Homeopathy for pregnancy-related health issues like nausea & vomiting, heartburn, irritable bowels, haemorrhoids, constipation, back pain, UTI’s, vaginal infections, ligament pain, sciatica, insomnia and more.

    Dr. Ailya Patel – MBBS (India), ND, IBCLC will speak on the pivotal first week in a breastfeeding journey. She will delve into the essential role this early period plays in establishing a solid foundation for mother-baby bonding and developing effective nursing techniques. Discover how expert guidance and emotional support during these crucial days can lead to a smoother, more fulfilling breastfeeding experience for both mother and child.

    Hebaa Rizeq – Doula & Pre/Postnatal Fitness Coach will be talking about PPD/PPMD/PPA and how simple exercise during the first few weeks of postpartum can be beneficial. She will also be discussing red flags and common myths:
    • When to seek professional help
    • PPMD or baby blues?
    • Starting Exercise
    • Demonstrations for every day exercises (breathing, posture, techniques for every day lifting)
    • Diastasis recti; what is it, why does it happen, how to treat it
